Curriculum
All grade levels, first through fifth grade, will have year-long standards that are worked on throughout the year (see below, in purple). They will be focused on both STEAM concepts and SEL concepts, as problem-solving and collaboration are keys to successfully integrating Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math.
The units will be cycled, in order to ensure that materials are utilized thoughtfully. The units will focus on three key aspects of STEAM:
Computer science will be mainly utilizing Scratch Jr. and Scratch. Both are block coding programs meant to teach the process and language behind coding.
Robotics will be integrated into the design, modeling, and programming concepts in order to ensure challenging and collaborative projects for every student. The robotic program will adapt as technology changes and students grow, but initially may include the use of VEX 1,2,3, VEX Go, LEGO education, VEX IQ, and Project Lead the Way curriculum.
